Edisto Beach State Park is a stunning part of the South Carolina coast. It lies down in the south of the state, 50 miles beyond Charleston and at the southern end of Edisto Island. The park covers around 1,250 acres and was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps way back in the 1930s. The nature trail here is four miles long and boasts access to handicapped visitors. It is in fact South Carolina’s longest handicapped-friendly hiking trail.

You can cook at the cabins and they also come with a television, seating, and a screened-in porch.

There are five, one-bedroom cabins and two, three-bedroom cabins in the park. The one-bedroom cabins sleep four people and have a queen bed and a wall bed; while the three-bedroom cabins can sleep six and have a queen bed in each bedroom. You can reserve by calling the park or by booking online, yet those who book within three days of stay need to book direct with the park. Discounts can be had out of season and pets are not permitted in the cabins.

For those that don’t manage to secure a cabin in Edisto Beach State Park there are also campgrounds here, which also have nice settings amid the deep maritime forest and near the ocean. There is running water at the campsites, along with electrical hookups and access to the picnicking, hiking, fishing, and boating. Edisto Beach State Park is quite straightforward to get to, being one an hour south of Charleston via the Savannah and Edisto highways.
