Edisto Island is a nice family holiday destination just off the coast of southern South Carolina, 45 miles south of Charleston. This is the one and only resort on Edisto Island. It lies just inland from the coast and Palmetto Boulevard and has a good range of rooms and facilities. This Edisto Island resort occupies 300 acres of prime land that is strewn with woods and lagoons and is home to a vast range of flora and birds. If you don’t fancy booking a vacation rental and prefer the convenience of staying in a hotel with all the trappings of service and facilities, then the Wyndham Ocean Ridge resort is the best choice.
As well as offering the best hotel rooms on Edisto Island, Wyndham Ocean Ridge also has a good offering of leisure activities. For one, it is home to Edisto Beach’s only golf course, the Plantation Golf Course at Edisto. It is a superb, 18-hole championship course with great greens and fairways that has a club and pro shop, to boot. Non-guests are allowed to play here. There are also three outdoor swimming pools onsite, along with miniature golf, tennis courts, family activities, a playground, and a public spa tub. The Edisto Island resort also does a range of tours, including fishing, sailing, kayaking, and biking.
Accommodation at Wyndham Ocean Ridge is in one- or two-bedroom units that come complete with full kitchens including coffeemakers, spa tubs, washing machines and dryers, and cable TV. The resort is spread over two storeys although there are no lifts.
Edisto Island transport
Edisto Island is very easy to get to. It is only around an hour from Charleston in southern South Carolina and you can fly to Charleston International Airport and pick up a hire car for the short drive. The US 17 (west) and Highway 174 (south) run all the way to Palmetto Boulevard, from where you turn right onto Lybrand Street (north) and follow the signs to the Wyndham Ocean Ridge Edisto Island resort. The resort also offers shuttle service to and from Charleston International Airport.
